i recently had the pleasure of being able to go to FanX in salt lake city, utah! it was my first time heading into utah so i had a couple of my expectations of entering the "mormon state" both confirmed and denied............exciting!!! it was also my first "big" convention in a very long time...the last one i went to of a similar scale was anime expo in los angeles, at least half a decade ago.. (i am. old..) i traveled with some coworkers and my partner and overall i had an absolutely fantastic time. :]
the drive wasn't too bad, without doxxing myself too much we did have to drive from a different state to make it into utah. we left pretty early in the morning, and started out with some breakfast sandwiches. talked a lot about our plans, who we were hoping to try and snag meet and greets with, and what we really wanted to bring home with us (we are all sticker and art hounds of varying degrees lol). it was pretty nice getting to see the sun starting to coast up across the horizon inside of the restaurant before we set off on our journey..it did kill me a bit though, as we were eating this older gentleman came careening into the parking lot in his RV, ran inside and went "NO HAMBURGERS YET?" and when the worker told him no he just replied "oh....." and left..no hamburgers at 7am!!! what a travesty..
